Winter Wedding Ideas to Make Your Day Feel Magical in Utah

Create a Warm and Cozy Vibe

Winter weddings are all about that warm, cozy, and welcoming feeling! Picture your guests walking into soft candlelight, twinkling lights, and the scent of fresh greenery in the air. I love using candles, lanterns, and plush textures like velvet or faux fur to make a space feel extra inviting! Add a hot cocoa bar or signature warm drink, and you’ve got instant cozy charm!

Go for Seasonal Florals

Winter flowers can be absolutely stunning! I love seeing rich, deep colors like burgundy and emerald mixed with creamy whites and lots of greenery. Add in a few wintery touches like pine or eucalyptus, and you’ll have that “fresh winter air” feel without going full holiday. For a softer look, white roses and silver accents always look dreamy against a winter backdrop.

Play with Lighting

Since the sun sets earlier, you can really have fun with lighting. Twinkle lights, chandeliers, candles; they all bring that romantic winter glow. One of my favorite things we’ve done at Stone Gate Weddings & Events is layering string lights behind sheer draping or wrapping them around our grand staircase. It makes the whole space feel magical the moment guests walk in.

Serve Up Seasonal Treats

A winter wedding menu is the perfect chance to get creative (and cozy!). Think comfort food with a twist, creamy soups, warm appetizers, and indulgent desserts like s’mores bites or mini pies. For drinks, I love seeing couples offer something like a hot toddy, mulled wine, or even a cranberry spritzer. It’s those little touches that make guests feel spoiled and taken care of.

Dress for the Season

Winter fashion is always elegant! Brides can have fun with long sleeves, sparkly accessories, or chic wraps. Grooms look incredible in velvet jackets or deep, rich tones. And for bridesmaids, you can’t go wrong with colors like forest green, navy, or deep red, they pop beautifully in photos and fit the season perfectly.

Find a Venue That Fits the Mood

A cozy, elegant space makes all the difference for a winter wedding. At Stone Gate Weddings & Events, our indoor spaces feel warm and inviting, with soft lighting, beautiful architecture, and plenty of ways to make your décor shine. I love seeing how each couple brings their own winter vision to life here, from candlelit ceremonies to sparkling, snow-inspired receptions.
